A Letter from Stacy: Creating Self-Expression Through Fragrance

I've recently been obsessed with this idea of self-expression scenting and began thinking about how to use it in the home - our sanctuary, our safe place, perhaps it's your workspace.  I’ve always believed that our homes are an extension of ourselves—a reflection of our style, our personality, and our moods.  <love me a good mood board, who's with me!?>  What I recently realized is that I’ve been creating my own form of self-expression through home fragrance, without even knowing it.  I mean, I've always loved fragrance, who doesn't resonate with a scent, a memory it creates.  It's just become more intentional, a personal signature for me - a way to connect with my space and reflect how I’m feeling throughout the seasons.

We often talk about how the clothes we wear or the art we hang on our walls are an extension of our personal style.  But fragrance?  It’s something a bit more subtle, yet just as powerful.  The scents we choose for our homes say something about who we are and the atmosphere we want to create.

For me, fragrance is seasonal—like nature’s rhythms...and our moods, it changes.  In the warmer months, I gravitate toward fresh, breezy scents that lift my spirits and evoke memories of ocean air and blooming gardens like Seaside Mimosa and Salt Air.  As the days cool, I crave warm, comforting notes that wrap me up like a cozy sweater, making my space feel inviting and serene like Tan Lines and Sunday.  Every candle I light, every diffuser I use, is tied to what I’m feeling in that moment.  It’s personal, almost instinctual—a form of self-expression that’s become second nature.

I’ve realized that many of you are doing the same.  You choose fragrances that resonate with you, that mirror your moods or transform your space into something that feels uniquely yours.  It’s more than just filling a room with a nice scent—it’s about creating an experience, a memory, a vibe that speaks to who you are.  A space that makes you feel inspired.

At Sea Love, we encourage you to embrace this idea of scent as self-expression. When you blend your own fragrance at our candle bars or virtually create your own, you’re not just making a candle—you’re creating something that’s uniquely yours.  A scent that tells your story.

So next time you light a candle or breathe in the fragrance of your home, take a moment to think about what that scent is saying about you.  What mood is it capturing? How does it reflect your style, your personality, your memories?

Here’s to creating spaces that feel like us, one scent at a time.

With love and gratitude,
Stacy
